Fitness testing
Tests include blood pressure, body fat percentage, body composition, lung function, leg power, upper body strength, endurance and flexibility*.

Fitness testing is designed to check your overall fitness levels. Fitness tests are an easy way to monitor your workout progress. A regular fitness test will ensure you are getting the best results out of your training.

During our fitness testing sessions we will check a number of health-related components such as:

  • A full medical questionnaire
  • Height
  • Weight
  • Blood pressure
  • Heart rate
  • Body Mass Index (BMI)
  • Body fat percentage
  • Lung capacity
  • Flexibility
  • Aerobic fitness (VO2 max)

We can also offer advice to help reach your personal goals in an achievable timeframe. A consultation will last approximately 45 minutes. All clients are offered the option of a male or female member of staff.

* These are available in the conditioning studio on Tuesday and Thursday mornings [between 10am and 11.30am] and Saturdays [between 11am and 12pm.]

GP referrals
GP referrals require the services of a trained professional to design a safe and effective exercise programme whether due to rehab after an injury or surgery, an illness or simply because your doctor thinks that you need to get in better shape for health reasons.

How the GP referral scheme works
A local GP, practice nurse, consultant or other medical professional refers patients by issuing them with a 'Referral Form.' This referral gives details of any medical problems the patient may have which will need consideration when one of our qualified instructors is formulating an appropriate exercise regime.

The first session
Your first session is free and will take the form of a simple but effective fitness assessment. It will take place with one of our qualified GP referral instructors and will last approximately 45 minutes.

We will need you to complete a medical questionnaire and take part in the assessment, so please wear loose, comfortable clothing and soft soled shoes or trainers. Pending the results and the reason for referral, an exercise program will then be put together by the instructor ready to begin at the next appointment.

Activities for children [under 16s]

Sessions run each week. All sessions are £2.50 per child (Junior Badminton £1.50) and you can choose from:

  • Thursdays between 5pm and 6pm - Junior Football [6 to 10 year olds]
  • Fridays [term time only] between 5pm and 6pm - Junior Badminton [11 to 18 year olds]
  • Monday - Friday (except bank holidays) - Teen Cardio (14 - 16yrs) between 3.30pm - 5pm, £2.50 per session (birth certificate or passport must be provided as proof of age on first visit)
