Access to Business

Course Overview

The programme is aimed at more mature individuals who have an interest in Business and wish to gain of develop the necessary skills to enhance their employment opportunities. Sufficient credits gained on this programme would enable a student to progress to Higher Education.

All students will study core modules:

  • Communication Skills
  • Application of Number
  • IT
  • Research Skills
  • Customer Service Skills
  • ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence)

And business modules:

  • Introduction to Marketing
  • Financial Statements
  • Financial Forecasting
  • Business Plan
  • Performing Market Research
  • Human Resource Management
  • Business Law
  • Negligence
  • Sex and Race Discrimination
  • Management

Duration:34 weeks | Qualification: GCS | Level: Level 3

Delivery

Continuous assessment through varied, vocationally relevant assignments. Assessments are designed to prepare learners for higher education or employment. Classroom hours are 17 per week.  All Level 3 courses will require considerable additional work outside of classroom time.

Requirements

At least Level 1 in Numeracy and Communication Skills.

Progression

Progression to Higher Education in areas such as Business Studies and Finance. Progression to employment in areas such as Business and Administration.

Additional Information

 Students will be required to purchase textbooks. The course may involve trips which will require a contribution from students.
