
First Aid at Work
This course will give you a level of competence for first aid skills that meet the requirements for the Health and Safety (First Aid) regulations 1981.
On completion of training, successful candidates will be able to:
- understand the role of the first aider;
- recognise and act upon first aid situations;
- administer (CPR) cardiopulmonary resuscitation;
- administer first aid to a casualty with minor injuries; and receive
- free annual updates to keep knowledge and practice current and safe (2 will be needed between re-validation of your first aid at work qualification).
- You need to be a minimum of 16 years of age;
- Do not hold a valid first at work qualification;
- This is an interactive course which requires the student to participate in physical activity.

This 18 hour course consists of
- practical sessions;
- supporting information, and
- an assessment (multi-choice questions and practical first aid exam).
There are many progression opportunities for the candidates depending on what they want to go on to do. Among the options are defibrillator training and paramedic training.
This course is accredited by STA and HSE recommend a yearly update.
The First Aid at Work certificate is valid for 36 months. (Revalidation must take place before the expiry date of the current certificate; candidates will not be accepted on to a refresher course if the certificate is expired).
