
Advanced Digital Technology Technician
Course Overview
This course is designed to support the student to achieve a University place in a digital technology/ Electronics discipline.
Students will study:
- Mobile communication
- System design
- Home integration
- Engineering mathematics
- Analogue electronics
- Digital electronics modules studied will include radio and radar
Duration:Two years | Qualification: BTEC Diploma | Level: Level 3
Delivery
This course is delivered in our state of the art sector leading workshops. Teaching and learning is promoted with a blend of practical and theory. There is a significant bias to developing students independent learning styles which is promoted via project work and the Engineering Education Scheme Wales (EESW) project. The assessment is all via assignment work that is completed throughout the learning program.
The course is delivered over four days a week with the fifth dedicated to assignment and industrial liaison via the EESW project.
There will be a work experience period to support the curriculum and develop the students technical and communication skills.
Requirements
Entry requirements are a Level 2 vocational Electronics qualification or four GCSEs at grade C.
Progression
Students following this program of study can either enter Higher Education or seek employment in the Digital Technology / Electronics area.

There is also a requirement to provide protective footwear for work experience.
There are trips planned to complement certain aspects of the course that will involve visiting digital technology and electronics environments there is a small contribution required normally ten to twenty pounds depending on the visit.
