Course Overview
This course focuses on how the business world develops, operates and responds to change. It equips students with the knowledge and understanding necessary for the world of work.
The course will include vocationally relevant additional studies e.g. the Institute for Financial Services (IFS) Foundation Certificate, Information Technology or the OCR Certificate in Enterprise.
The course has been developed to include a range of business related subjects, with the emphasis on practical application of relevant theory. This includes running a business as part of the young enterprise programme.
The course will be taught through a variety of teaching methods to ensure a balanced learning experience.
Study units include:
- Financial forecasting for business
- Promotion and branding
- Starting a small business
Duration:One year | Qualification: BTEC Diploma | Level: Level 2
Delivery
The course is assessed by vocationally relevant continuous assessment, practical observation and written assignment. Each qualification unit will have an overall grade of Pass, Merit or Distinction. Classroom hours are 14 per week.
Requirements
Four GCSEs at grade D or above/Level 1 Diploma at Pass (good attendance record and tutor report required)
Progression
Employment in the business sector or progression to a Level 3 programme such as BTEC Business Level 3 (requires a Merit or Distinction profile).
Additional Information
Trips to local business centres form part of the course and will require a contribution towards travel and expenses.
