Course Overview

**Welsh Baccalaureate optional**

Delivery of the courses is undertaken by highly qualified lecturers with a balance of experience in teaching and industry. This hands-on knowledge and experience of actual business activity ensures that students receive a credible and relevant business education.

Entrepreneurship is also vigorously promoted providing real opportunities for students to also apply what they are learning in a real ‘hands on’ environment.

The optional Welsh Baccalaureate module, if chosen, is seamlessly combined into the programme of study. It is a valuable qualification and broadens student knowledge, understanding and experience of the local, national and global business, social and economic environment.

Each course option is made up of a set number of units, including Business Management, Marketing, Information Technology, Business Environment, Accountancy and a range of other subjects.

Duration:Two years | Qualification: BTEC Extended Diploma | Level: Level 3

Delivery

There is a combination of theoretical and practical based delivery and the use of the Virtual Business model ensures that students participate in the day to day running of a real business and participate in both national and international events.

Assessment is based upon achievement of specified outcomes (assignments) in respect of taught units of study. All units are individually graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction. Classroom hours are 18 per week.  All Level 3 courses will require considerable extra work outside of classroom time.

Requirements

Four GCSEs at grade C or above/Level 2 Diploma at Merit or above

Progression

Progression to higher education, management training in private and public sector, banks and other financial institutions.

Opportunities for entrepreneurial talent to be developed in own business ventures.

Additional Information

Students all participate in a UK/International visit which is funded by the student. Trips to local business centres will take place which will require a contribution from students.
