
Digital Technology Technician (Intermediate) BTEC
Course Overview
This course develops the student into a digital technology technician to a Level 2 standard. The course will explore the very latest technological advances in digital technology. This will include:
- Home integration of digital technology
- 3D television
- Internet protocol television
- Mobile communication
- Computer technology (hardware)
- Industrial digital technology applications
- Digital electronics
- Analogue electronics
Students will be taught how to fault find and design digital technology systems.

Delivery
Delivery of the course is in our sector leading state of the art digital technology workshops. Delivery will include a large practical content with students developing a portfolio of their work coupled with project and research work. There is also a work experience program that all students will be encouraged to take part in to help them develop links with potential future employers.
Assessment is via our student response system, which tracks the development of students throughout their program of study. There will also be a high emphasis on measuring improving skill sets of the students that is key in obtaining an apprenticeship with a local employer. The course is delivered over four days with the fifth dedicated to project and research work independent study.
Requirements
Four GCSEs at C grade or above coupled with an interview.
Progression
Successful students have the opportunity to either progress to the advanced Digital Technology Technician course or to enter a Foundation Modern Apprenticeship.
Additional Information
Students will engage in a work experience week in March 2012, this will need students to purchase protective footwear. There is an annual trip to the Science Museum in London that may require a small contribution of £10 per head.
