The Diploma in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership can help you progress to a more senior role within hospitality. You'll broaden your existing knowledge and gain important leadership and management skills to help you take on more responsibility.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will have:
- Attained an accredited qualification that complies with current relevant qualifications.
- A QCF qualification gives you greater flexibility when studying and allows you to transfer credits across qualifications. You will be awarded credits for each unit you complete.
- The ability to apply the knowledge gained from the course to their work skills to help you take on more responsibility.
Progression from Level 2 or equivalent
You complete five core units:
- Lead a team to improve customer service
- Develop productive working relationships with colleagues
- Provide leadership for your team
- Contribute to the control of resources
- Maintain the health, hygiene, safety and security of the working environment.
You also choose three optional units.
You choose at least one unit from:
- Supervise drink services
- Supervise housekeeping services
- Supervise portering and concierge
- Supervise reception services
- Supervise reservations and bookings services
- Supervise food production operations
- Supervise functions
- Supervise food services.
You choose any remaining units from:
- Provide learning opportunities for colleagues
- Supervise off-site food delivery services
- Supervise cellar and drink storage operations
- Supervise vending services
- Supervise linen services
- Supervise the use of technological equipment in hospitality services
- Supervise practices for handling payments
- Contribute to the development of a wine list
- Contribute to the selection of staff for activities
- Ensure food safety practices are followed in the preparation and serving of food and drink
- Contribute to the development of recipes and menus
- Improve the customer relationship
- Manage the receipt, storage or dispatch of goods
- Supervise the wine store/cellar and dispense counter
- Manage the environmental impact of work
- Lead meetings
- Contribute to promoting hospitality services and products.
Candidates may wish to develop their learning further by undertaking the Level 3 Advanced Professional Certificate in Hospitality and Catering, the Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Professional Cookery, the Level 4 Higher Professional Diploma in Hospitality and Catering and the Level 7 Master Professional in Strategy and Development (Hospitality and Catering).
