Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice - Award

Course Overview:

This course is suitable for qualified Assessors who hold the D awards, A1 or the Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement. Assessors who want to progress to the role of IV in their department and need a recognised IV qualification.

This course aims to provide underpinning knowledge and understanding, relating to the internal quality assurance of the assessment process. Candidates will also be supported to utilise this knowledge by completing a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate their competence as an Internal Verifier.

Upon successful completion of this course, candidates will have gained a nationally recognised qualification which will enable learners to work as a qualified Internal Verifier.

Entry Requirements:

You will need to be occupationally competent and experienced and/or qualified within the sector you will be verifying.

Candidates will have to have been qualified and practising assessors for at least one year before embarking on this programme. (holding D awards, A1, Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement).

Course Delivery:

This course covers:

The role of the internal verifier
Carrying out and evaluating internal assessment and quality assurance systems
Support of assessors – Minimum of 2 years
Monitoring the quality of assessors’ performance
How to meet external quality assurance requirements including liaison with external verifiers
Completion of the portfolio

The course is delivered over one day, which includes discussions and activities. You will be allocated an assessor who will support you whilst you compile your profile.

Progression Opportunities:

You can progress from this course to additional learning and development awards or units. You can also progress to the Lead IV qualification at a future date if job role permits.
