Management - NVQ Certificates CMI Level 3 (QCF)

Course Overview: 

This qualification is designed for team leaders and managers, to support the development of their skills and competences in leading a team, making sure that the team’s work achieves organisational objectives. Also, that team leaders and managers develop their skills in making contributions to planning, problem solving and decision making.

On completion of this qualification you will know how to: 

  • Manage own professional development within an organisation
  • Set objectives and provide support for team members
  • Plan and allocate and monitor work of a team

There will also be opportunities for students to gain knowledge of:  

  • Provide leadership and direction for own area of responsibility
  • Manage or support equality of opportunity, diversity and inclusion in own area of responsibility
  • Implement change in own area of responsibility
  • Develop working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Support learning and development within own area of responsibility
  • Lead and manage meetings
  • Communicate information and knowledge
  • Manage customer service in own area of responsibility
Entry Requirements: 

We would require a pre-course interview to discuss the course and to establish that this level is suitable for the candidate. Also, that the candidate has the ability to demonstrate competence in working practices within their work role. There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.  

Course Delivery: 

This is dependent on the combination of units selected by each individual candidate. However, between 110 and 140 hours of guided learning is expected.

Candidates will need to complete each unit to meet the indicative content requirements to the standard required by the awarding body. In addition to the specific assessment criteria in each unit, the learner’s work must be: 

  • Accurate, authentic, sufficient and appropriate to meet the assessment criteria
  • Relevant in depth and breadth and show the learner’s clear grasp of concepts; the ability to link theory to practice, and to provide work based evidence in support of narrative where and when necessary.

 The learner’s work for Institute purposes is given either a ‘pass’ or ‘fail’ result.

Progression Opportunities: 

The qualifications provide opportunities for progression to other qualifications at higher levels, which could also be work based or more academically structured. The qualification also support learners in meeting the requirements for work and/or employment within all areas of management and leadership at this level

Additional Information: 

The faculty is represented by tutors who have all previously worked at management levels within industry. They are qualified in management principles and between them cover all major business management and marketing fields. The team members are also qualified teachers who, between them, have over 35 years experience of teaching and training. The team currently work with a wide variety of organisations providing management training to the public, private and third sectors.

In order to gain the CMI Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Management, candidates will need to complete all mandatory units to a credit value of 14. 

  • Manage own professional development within an organisation (4)
  • Set objectives and provide support for team members (5)
  • Plan and allocate and monitor work of a team (5)

They will also be required to complete optional units to a minimum credit value of 11 from a range of titles, including those from the list below: 

  • Provide leadership and direction for own area of responsibility (5)
  • Manage or support equality of opportunity, diversity and inclusion in own area of responsibility (4)
  • Implement change in own area of responsibility (6)
  • Develop working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders (3)
  • Support learning and development within own area of responsibility (5)
  • Lead and manage meetings (4)
  • Communicate information and knowledge (3)
  • Manage customer service in own area of responsibility (4).
