Champion boxer visits college

Gower College Swansea

Students at Gower College Swansea were delighted to welcome a very special visitor this week – boxer and Commonwealth Games Gold medallist Sean McGoldrick.

Sean, who was accompanied by St Joseph’s Boxing Club Coach Tony Borg, called into the Kingsway Centre to meet with students from the college’s Sport, Engage and Steps to Employment programmes.

“The students were thrilled to meet Sean,” says Learner Liaison Officer John Reynolds. “They were able to ask him lots of questions about his career and were delighted that he’d brought his medal with him. They were all really inspired afterwards.”

Newport-born Sean was awarded Gold in the Bantamweight division at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
