Student support

Student services is the first contact point for information, support and advice on anything from careers advice to financial assistance. The college’s specialist student support staff are available at Llwyn y Bryn, Tycoch and Gorseinon campuses.

Well-being service
Got a problem? We can help. Students can talk, in a confidential setting, about anything including academic problems, depression, anxiety, help with anger management, stress or bullying.

Advice and course guidance
The Student Adviser and Admissions Team provide a comprehensive service including impartial, professional and confidential support and guidance to students throughout the application process and their time at the college. The student advisers also provide advice on welfare, course guidance, financial and personal issues.

Additional learning support
We can also provide specialist support for students with additional learning needs. If you require specialist equipment or assistance we will apply for funding for this. Let us know at the application stage to ensure we provide the right support for you.

Our Learning Resource Centre includes an assistive technology area which has equipment for learners with special learning support needs.

Learning Zones
The college’s modern multimedia Learning Zones have everything you need to get ahead in your education. Resources include:

  • IT drop-in facilities and on line information resources
  • access to the college’s virtual learning environment (VLE) and the internet
  • video tapes, DVDs, CDs and audio tapes
  • books for reference and loan on all subjects
  • past examination papers and current syllabuses

Learning Zone staff can work with you and your lecturers to help you find the most up-to-date information. They will also help your develop your research skills.

Careers Guidance
Based at Tycoch and Gorseinon, Careers Wales are available to help you with your career choices, mock interviews, developing work skills and looking into employment or university.
