
Safety, Health Environmental Awareness (Waste Management)
This course has been developed specifically for the waste management industry.
The course provides basic knowledge and understanding of Safety, Health and Environmental Legislation and its application to the workplace. The course has been developed in line with Health and Safety Executive guidelines.
The course is appropriate for all those involved in waste related operation, including all levels of operative, supervisors and management.
On successful completion of this course, individuals will be registered on the Energy and Utility Skills Register database and issued with a SHEA (Waste Management) Card. This card provides evidence that the learner has a minimum level of health and safety awareness that is appropriate to the waste industry.
The scheme is affiliated with the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) allowing utility workers access to CSCS controlled sites for the purpose of utilities work without the need to hold a separate CSCS card.
Entry Requirements
No previous health and safety or environmental knowledge is required.

- Working environment
- Our environment
- Incident procedures
- Equipment
One day training course. This course covers the seven modules, each module is followed by a short multiple choice assessment. The course will be delivered and assessed with appropriate support for attendees who have difficulties with reading and / or writing.
