Important information re: changes to curriculum from September 2012
From September 2012, there will be several important changes to the provision of curriculum for new students at Gower College Swansea.
There are several reasons for making these changes - primarily, to focus resources and provision for learners, thus improving the overall learner experience.
These changes are set out below:
A Levels
AS/A level provision offered at Tycoch will move to Gorseinon (with the exception of evening provision which will remain at Tycoch.)
Creative Arts
Full time Performing Arts courses will be offered at Gorseinon only. The Level 3 vocational Art and Design course will move from Gorseinon to Llwyn y Bryn. Access to Art and Design will move from Llwyn y Bryn to the Canolfan Centre in Gorseinon.
Transport
For curriculum moving to Gorseinon:
Students will be able to access the Gorseinon bus service (there are over 20 routes.)
For curriculum moving to Tycoch, Llwyn y Bryn and the Canolfan Centre:
Students will be able to purchase a First Cymru bus pass.
The costs are the same.
Student Services
Students at all sites have access to a range of student services including: funding advice; academic learning resources; additional learner support including dyslexia support; counselling and welfare support.
Pastoral Support
All students at all sites are allocated a tutor on enrolment at the college to provide support and guidance to achieve their course. The tutor role will be the same across all sites.
There will also be some changes to our part time curriculum as follows:
P.G.C.E
This course will be offered at our Tycoch site only
Adult Basic Education
