Haiti campaigner to visit college

Gower College Swansea

Jean-Robert Cadet, author and former Haitian child slave, is set to visit Gower College Swansea as it begins its annual fund-raising campaign for the Restavek Organisation.

The non-profit Jean R. Cadet Restavek organisation aims to end child slavery and enable Haitians to access education opportunities.

Everyone at the college will be encouraged to 'Wear Something Blue' this week and make a donation.

This will be followed by Jean-Robert visiting the college on 18 October to hold talks, in English and French, with staff and students.

“Following our successful fund raising last year, we are really keen to get involved again,” says Equality and Diversity Officer Jane John. “We’re encouraging all students and staff to raise money and awareness by holding raffles, cake sales, car washes and sponsored walks.”
