Access to Law

Course Overview

This programme is aimed at more mature individuals and provides the knowledge and skills required to progress to Higher Education or related employment. The course is recognised by all academic institutions and provides an excellent background for degrees and HNDs in Law, Criminology and other related subjects.

All students will study core modules:

  • Communication skills
  • Application of number
  • IT
  • Research skills
  • Customer Service skills

And Law modules:

  • Nature of law
  • Modern sources of law
  • Criminal law
  • Contract law
  • Tort
  • Civil liberties
  • Sex and race discrimination
  • Negligence
     

Duration:34 weeks | Qualification: | Level: Level 3

Delivery

Continuous assessment through varied, vocationally relevant assignments.

Assessments are designed to prepare learners for Higher Education or employment. Classroom hours are 16 per week.

All Level 3 courses will require considerable additional work outside of classroom time.

Requirements

At least Level 1 in numeracy and communication skills. No previous knowledge of law is required.

Progression

Progression to Higher Education in areas such as Law and Criminology or progression to employment in related areas.

Additional Information

Students will be required to purchase textbooks. The course may involve trips which will require a contribution from students.
