Skills for Industry @ Gower College Swansea recently held a business breakfast especially for professionals working in the care sector.
The event, which was held at Sketty Hall, saw guest speaker Annie O’Reilly (S.W. Social Care Partnership Coordinator) address an audience of sector professionals on the benefits of the new initiative, which provides a strategic approach to the delivery of workforce development.
"Skills for Industry benefits private sector employers by offering subsidised, accredited training at a range of levels," says Project Officer Elaine Maddox. "It can also assist in developing best practice in equality and diversity while providing advice on environmental and sustainability strategies."
Skills for Industry is a £15m scheme that aims to help over 10,500 workers in South West Wales gain new skills and drive forward productivity in the workplace. Gower College Swansea is leading the initiative, which is backed with £9m from the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government, alongside Coleg Sir Gar, Pembrokeshire and Neath Port Talbot Colleges.
