The creative journey of our Theatrical, Special Effects, Hair, and Media Make-Up students
College theatrical, special effects, hair, and media make-up students stunned guests with their horror circus display at the Student Awards last week.
The combination of intricate special effects make-up, mesmerizing hair designs, and captivating performances brought the circus of nightmares to life.
This was the final project of the year for the busy students. From mesmerizing transformations for College theatre productions to captivating appearances at conventions, these students have showcased their boundless creativity and talent.

Swansea city centre was buzzing with excitement on Father's Day as Krazy Races took over the streets. The event, sponsored by Gower College Swansea, was Swansea’s first soapbox Derby, and saw participants in outrageous fancy dress and whizzing around the city streets in homemade soapbox carts.
Gower College Swansea, not content with simply supporting the event, went the extra mile by entering a team from their esteemed engineering department.

On 12 June, our media students all had a special opportunity to work with a professional company called Carlam - which is part of the community of Yr Egin, Carmarthen - to create a live programme and then stream it live.
They worked as part of a group to carry out a task under specific time conditions developing research, production and camera work skills. They gained experience in planning, filming and editing promo content by considering the different elements of creating a programme.

Our students had particular success at the Urdd Eisteddfod in Llandovery last week. Over 60 students in all competed in various stage and homework competitions. Gower College Swansea was the most successful further education college in Wales this year.

Our AS Government and Politics students recently visited London where they took in some very famous sights.
It was an action-packed day. Setting off from Swansea at 5.30am, the students visited the UK Supreme Court and enjoyed a walking tour of Whitehall.
They were also treated to a tour of Parliament including both the House of Commons and the House of Lords. There was a workshop on law-making at the end of the tour, followed by a Q&A session with Gower MP Tonia Antoniazzi.
