This course aims to equip you with a solid foundation in construction management principles, construction technology, digital applications for construction information, health and safety regulations, tender and procurement, science and materials and principles of alternative energy. It can be studied part time or through an apprenticeship route.

Key information

You should have a Level 3 qualification in a relevant field such as Construction, Engineering, or Business. Alternatively, we will consider your application if you have relevant work experience in the construction industry. Proficiency in written and spoken English and good numeracy skills are essential. Please provide copies of your academic certificates or evidence of work experience when applying. Our Admissions team will carefully review each application to ensure suitability for the course.

This course is delivered through a combination of lectures, practical workshops, and group projects. You will engage in interactive discussions, case studies, and site visits to gain real-world exposure to construction management. Our experienced tutors will guide you through the course content, providing comprehensive support and feedback. Assessment methods include coursework assignments, practical exercises, presentations, and written examinations. Grading criteria are clearly outlined in the course handbook, enabling you to understand the expectations and criteria for each assessment.

The course will start in September. Classes will take place 9am-5pm on Wednesdays. and delivered in the HE Centre at Tycoch Campus.

Completing the HNC Construction Management course opens up a range of progression opportunities for your career. You can choose to pursue a higher-level qualification, such as a Higher National Diploma (HND), or a degree in Construction Management or a related field. The HNC qualification will give you the foundation to take on roles such as Assistant Site Manager, Project Coordinator, or Estimator. As you gain experience and expertise, you can progress to positions like Construction Manager, Project Manager, or Contracts Manager.
